Panasonic Lumix DMC- LX1
The DMC-LX1 features a 4x optical zoom with a 28 to 112mm1 wide-angle capability (35mm equivalent). This and a 1/1.65" diagonal CCD with 8.4 million effective pixels give you superb image quality over a wide shooting range. The Extended Optical Zoom, which minimizes the image degradation that normally occurs with digital zooming, gives you up to 5x zooming power2. Plus, the 4x optical zoom3 and 4x digital zoom can be used together to produce a maximum of 16x zooming power.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-F1S
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-F1S is a small, beautifully finished camera that sets itself apart with a superb 3X zoom lens designed by famed optical manufacturer Leica. It has some noteworthy settings, but its feature set is limited, the menus are confusing, and the documentation is poorly written. Even so, the DMC-F1S will appeal to those accustomed to precision mechanics but not interested in top-quality images

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 is the 4-megapixel cousin of the 5MP Lumix DMC-FZ20. Though it can't come close to matching the sharpness of its higher-res stablemate, it still does quite well, and it's actually a better camera when it comes to shooting action, because it needs 2 seconds less time to recycle between shots.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5
The DMC-FZ5 is one of two direct sucessors to the popular (and preview Highly Recommended) DMC-FZ3. Like its predecessor the FZ5 sports a Leica-branded DC Vario-Elmarit zoom with a whopping 12x optical range (35-420mm equiv), though the larger sensor has resulted in a slightly slower F2.8-F3.3 aperture range. It also boasts the same newly-improved optical image stabilization system and the Venus II engine, which, according to Panasonic's documentation, is now equivalent to shooting at 3 or 4 shutter speed steps faster - (the figure for the FZ20 was quoted as 2 or 3 shutter speed steps).
Aside from the boost from 3 to 5 million pixels (bringing it in line with the high-end DMC-FZ20), the FZ5 has a range of relatively minor changes over the FZ3, including longer battery life, a repositioned shutter release and improved grip design, larger LCD screen, orientation sensor and a new fast focus mode, which Panasonic claims gives a 30% improvement on the previous model.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7
The FZ7 features a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens with a remarkable 12x optical zoom, equivalent to a 35 to 430mm lens on a 35mm film camera. A film camera with an optical zoom this powerful would be so big and heavy, you couldn´t handle it with one hand. The FZ7, on the other hand, is small, lightweight and easy to handle. It also has Panasonic's Extended Optical Zoom.
While causing minimal deterioration by using the center part of the high-resolution CCD, this function magnifies the image to give you total zoom power of 17.5x - roughly equivalent to a huge 1680mm lens on a 35mm camera. Jitter from shaky hands is one of the main reasons why cameras produce blurry images.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ1
This new addition to the Panasonic Lumix series of digital cameras offers some interesting features in a lightweight, relatively compact body. The 4-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ1 is not the sexiest or sleekest model in town, but no one will laugh at you if you pull it out at a party. And at $249.95, it won't leave you broke, either. Image quality, however, suffers a bit from exposure problems, and flash shots have some jagged edges.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5
Panasonic's recent ad campaign promoting MEGA O.l.S., its image stabilization technology, includes the catch phrase "Life's a blur. Your photos shouldn't be." It's a good line and, for the most part, appropriately highlights this technology's performance. The MEGA O.l.S. (optical image stabilizer) hardware comes in handy on Panasonic's 6-megapixel Lumix DMC-LZ5 compact digital camera, which has twice the zoom range of most compacts I've tested. As it does with most Panasonic cameras, the MEGA O.I.S. works well, and it enabled me to capture lots of blur-free, well-exposed images. Unfortunately, the camera's overall performance was disappointing, especially the significant shutter lag, which can be annoying when trying to capture action shotssports, or children playing.
