Nikon D1X Digital Camera
The Nikon D1X digital camera will all but make film obsolete for the vast majority of professional and serious photographers. The kit includes the camera body, battery, charger, FireWire cable, and browser software, but not the lens, strobe light, FireWire board or memory card. At less than $5,500 (street), though, the D1X is reasonably priced for pro equipment, especially considering the lifetime savings on film and processing. But the film-like speed, excellent handling characteristics, total manual control capability, and superb image quality--virtually indistinguishable from film--make this camera practically irresistible.
