Like the Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro before it, the new Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro is built on the Nikon N80 film SLR chassisnesium-alloy body. It's just one of the ways in which the S3 Pro seems to exhibit an identity problem: Is it an expensive consumer digital SLR or a cheaper alternative to the high-priced pro D-SLRs? That's a question that you may have to answer for yourself, depending on your needs. More

The Super CCD SR II sensor at the heart of the FinePix S3 Pro UVIR ensures superb image quality and low noise while addressing the issue of wider dynamic range. And now it even captures a wider spectrum from Ultra Violet through visible and into Infrared. Specific wavelengths can be isolated and captured from daylight or artificial light sources via lens filtering or by use of an Alternative Light Source (ALS) such as a forensic crime scope lighting technology like those sold by SPEX Forensics. Fujifilm FinePix S5000 Fujifilm FinePix S5000

The FinePix S5000 Zoom represents an affordable, compact, lightweight three megapixel (SuperCCD pixels) digital camera with a ten times optical zoom lens and an SLR-like appearance. To my eye it's one of the best looking 'SLR-like' digital cameras of recent times. Including four AA batteries the S5000 weighs just 430 g (15 oz, just under 1 lb) and thanks to its grip design feels very comfortable to use. Although the camera has a certain amount of manual control it doesn't seem to be aimed directly at the serious prosumer, it's lacking some features (such as manual white balance) which those users will only get from a camera like the S602 Zoom. That said this is a camera which could be taken on holiday as a 'full range' camera, used for casual sports events and more. More

Fujifilm FinePix S5100 Fujifilm FinePix S5100

The Fujifilm FinePix S5100 is almost identical to last year's FinePix S5000, the main difference being that Fuji's proprietary 3.1-megapixel SuperCCD HR image sensor has been replaced with a conventional 4MP CCD. The result is a very fast shooter that takes very good pictures. If it had built-in antishake technology, it would be a serious contender for Editors' Choice among superzooms. As it is, if money's tight, this is a very good choice in the category. More

Fujifilm FinePix S7000 Fujifilm FinePix S7000

The S7000 looks and feels like a slightly miniaturized 35-mm SLR camera, though it's not a true SLR. In place of an optical viewfinder, the S7000 has a 235,000-pixel electronic view-finder (EFV), one of the best we've seen. Another winning feature of the S7000 is its excellent 6X zoom lens, with a 35- to 210-mm effective focal length.

Fujifilm FinePix S7000 Zoom Fujifilm FinePix S7000 Zoom

The S7000 Zoom marks the fifth generation of Fujifilm's top-end prosumer digital camera. The camera looks almost identical to the S602 Pro Zoom which was announced in November 2002 (it was a subtle update of the S602 Zoom). The only physical differences between the two is the addition of the new FinePix 'Photo mode' button on the rear of the camera, the removal of the Pro's PC Sync terminal, a gold SuperCCD logo and a change of the silk screen on the side of the lens barrel, the S602 Pro Zoom said '6x Optical Zoom', the S7000 says '19x, 6x Optical, 3.2x Digital' (a slide back to marketing tactics of the late 90's). Fujifilm FinePix Z3 Fujifilm FinePix Z3

The Fujifilm FinePix Z3 is a 5.1 megapixel (super CCD) camera with a 3x Optical Zoom lens, 2.5 inch LCD display (230000 pixels), 10 megabytes of internal memory, VGA movie mode and sleek design. It features an ISO range up to 1600 (up from 800 on the Z1). Strangely Fujifilm are calling the increase in ISO 'picture stabilization' (note: while it will enable faster shutter speeds in low light it's not true image stabilization).

Also featured on the Z3 is 'i-Flash' which senses when a scene needs a stronger or weaker burst of flash automatically.
