Hewlett-Packard's CMOS-based HP Pocket Camera ($170 street) is a simple plug-and-play digital camera that snaps onto HP Jornada 520- and 540-series Pocket PCs. The Pocket Camera's versatile Pocket PC application comprehensively supports reviewing and sharing of captured images. But the excellent software can't compensate for the camera's relatively low 640-by-480 optical resolution. Still, the Pocket Camera is a convenient accessory for capturing and sharing decent-quality photos using your Jornada.
The 1-ounce Pocket Camera adds a mere 1 by 2.3 by 0.9 inches (HWD) to a Jornada's footprint. The camera's simple controls include an optical viewfinder, shutter release, and 180-degree swivel lens, with a focus ring for close-up and long-distance shots (from 2.9 inches to infinity). A narrow LED ring next to the lens displays the camera's operating status.
